FAMILY SERVICES COORDINATOR Kendrick now has a Family Services Coordinator. She is Ms. Angela Fontain and is located in the front office area. As your liaison, Ms. Fontain will provide support for the family, student, faculty and staff in order to bridge the gap and strive for positive communication. Senior Portraits for the Class of 2011 should have been taken by LifeTouch Studios during the summer. You must have your photos made by October 1 in order for them to appear in the Kendrick High School yearbook. We will only accept photos from LifeTouch. You DO NOT need to send a photo to the school. LifeTouch will submit a disk to the school after October 1. If you did not complete an address card for LifeTouch on May 10, you will need to contact the studio at 706-568-1650. If you have not heard from LifeTouch regarding your appointment, you need to contact them to setup your appointment immediately. Back to Top FACULTY MEMBERS RETIRED Ms. Margarita Callahan retired from teaching Health Occupations after 34 years in education with most of the time at Kendrick. Ms. Callahan has always been a loyal Cherokee and has been a tremendous promoter of camaraderie among the faculty and staff. She has been the organizer for faculty holiday socials and the Relay for Life held every May in support of Cancer survivors. She will be greatly missed at Kendrick. Mrs. Lynn Curry retired after 26 years in education with the last nine at Kendrick as the Guidance Director and the Senior Counselor. She has advised many seniors so that they have been able to graduate on time and has helped many seniors in applying for many scholarships. She will be greatly missed at Kendrick. Back to Top ACADEMY OF COMMUNICATION ARTS & DESIGN For those who are interested in applying for the Academy of Communication Arts & Design Magnet program at Kendrick, click here for a form to print and fill out by hand.WHAT IS ACAD? In the Academy of Communication Arts & Design, students will gain fundamental work place skills, technical application skills, and interpersonal skills necessary to enter and succeed in diverse careers associated with the graphic/print communications industry. Academy students will learn about artistic expression, computer operations, graphics and imagery software applications, machinery operation, desktop publishing, photography, camera equipment/digital electronic printing, image assembly, offset processes, print journalism, teamwork, problem solving, and communications skills necessary in today’s modern graphic/printing communications facilities. Students in the academy will also investigate career options through internships and work based learning. Students will gain experiences in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development through participation in SkillsUSA. ACAD students will receive classroom and on-the-job experience through a performance based state curriculum developed by leaders in the communications field. An on-campus, state-of-the-art print shop and design lab will afford students the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting. Partnerships with local printers, magazines, and newspapers will provide students with real-world expertise and ample opportunity for hands-on learning through mentoring and internships.
